GRAND OPENING DAY AT THE CRABBIE’S GRAND NATIONAL FESTIVAL
It was a dry and chilly start to The Crabbie’s Grand National this morning where we saw an impressive turnout of 33,456 people to watch four Grade One races, two Grade Threes and a race over the big fences which was enough make everyone’s ears prick and take notice.
The Opening Day race results were as follows:
Anniversary 4 year old Juvenile hurdle: 10 Guitar Pete
Betfred Bowl Chase: 6 Silviniaco Conti
Doom Bar Aintree Hurdle: 7 The New One
Crabbie’s supporting the Hillsborough Families Fox Hunters’ Steeple Chase: 21 Warne
Red Rum Handicap Chase: 13 Parsnip Pete
Manifesto Novices’ Chase: 4 Uxizandre
Dominican Republic Handicap Hurdle: 15 Dr Harper
As well as the first class racing there were a host of other treats in store for visitors of The Crabbie’s Grand National Opening Day…
Sporting heroes marked the opening of the Festival by walking the jockeys down the weighing room steps, we saw a demonstration of the beautiful retrained racehorses, the Red Rum garden played host to our Crabbie’s sampling bus whilst Liverpool One entertained with the ‘Bobby Swing Band’ and the Beauty Bazaar-Harvey Nichols tent gave everyone a handy little beauty touch up. A brilliant day was finished off with Bjorn Again who entertained the Grand Opening Day crowds with ABBA hits.
A great start to a Festival that is sure to be filled with 1st class racing, passion and spirit! We look forward to welcoming everyone attending the infamous Ladies Day tomorrow.
