This years Crabbie’s Grand National also saw us bid farewell to champ jockey A P McCoy, after his twentieth and final ride in the worlds greatest steeple chase before he retires at the end of the season.

In total, there were six other races throughout the day and the results were as follows:

The World Famous Just Eat Mersey Novices’ Hurdle: NICHOLS CANYON

The Doom Bar Maghull Novices’ Steeple Chase: SIZING GRANITE

The Silver Cross Stayers’ Hurdle: WHISPER

The Betfred Handicap Steeple Chase: DUKE OF LUCCA

As well as the first-class racing, there were a host of other treats in store for visitors of The Crabbie’s Grand National…

We welcomed back twelve Grand National winning heroes in the Parade of Champions, the Silver Stars parachuted in with the Crabbie’s, Help for Heroes and Aintree flags just before the first race, Liverpool One entertained crowds in the Red Rum garden with their house band ‘The Fleet’ whilst crowds sampled Crabbie’s at the Crabbie’s bus and there was a wealth of live sing along hits from the likes of Geronimo Joe, and Brian Cummins throughout the day.
